2010 Outdoor Pavilion Tent Weddings

2009 Summer is slowing coming to an end........Fortunately, we still have about 40 more gigs this year to work on....=). In this tough economy, we are just very fortunate to be working .......=).

I've started receiving many inquiries for outdoor and tent weddings for 2010. Many of the pictures the Brides & Grooms have emailed me for quotes (See below) look absolute awesome and doable on our part.........But one thing that needs to clarified, "Power Supply".

Many outdoor locations lack sufficient power for a "good volume" of decor lighting. Furthermore, with your dj, band and so on....You will absolutely need "generator/s".
  • Most small generators rent for about $100 each and you would need about 2 for a small wedding of 75 - 150 people
  • Most medium size generators go for about $150 - $200 each....you generally need 2 for a medium size wedding about 150 - 300 people
  • Most large generators go for about $550 each....for about a 500 - 800 people up
  • Google "Generator Rental in LA" for local companies that provide such services..
  • PS.....inq about the quiet generators...not the ones you would find at ur local hardware stores....too noisy..=(

I sincere apologize if I did not credit you for the pictures....Most of these pictures were emailed to me for quotes.

An East and West event at the Pacific Palms Resort

We started off August with a spectacular event at Pacific Palms Resort's Colonial Room.....We had the absolute pleasure of providing dj, lighting & av services for Steve & Melody. It was actually my second time working with Melody, the bride. She single handily planned her brother's wedding, Harry, last year at the same location.

For Melody's wedding, her theme was "Love" or "Hi"....The r
oom was decked out with ice sculptures, lavish floral arrangements, pinlighting, LED Lighting, beautiful fabric & candy buffet................To top everything off, she had the lion dancers do a live performance as She and Steve entered the room in their traditional Chinese Costumes.

For their first dance, it was to Steve Tyrell's, "The way you look tonight" & "What a wonderful world" by Louie Armstrong to the Father & Daughter and Mother & Son dance.

We wish them the best with everything.....according to her maid of honor, "have many Huppa babies"....lol

Vendors
  • Joanne & Crystal at Pacific Palms Resort for their incredible hospitality
  • Helen for coordinating this beautiful event
  • Desi for proving the beautiful images
  • Moi Studio for filming the wedding
  • Theresa for making Melody one of the most stunning brides

Dress Code at an event: San Gabriel Hilton

So I come across a picture of myself on a 10' ladder.....hard at work (hardly working according my wife)and risking my life. The first thing come out my wife's mouth....."look, you are wearing white boxers and that is probably going to scar the little girl seating by the table for life"....hehehe......Maybe her mother enjoyed it from looking how her head is slightly tilted....lol

How do we dress at an event? My staff and I usually wear all black. Not the Rugby Team: All Blacks....lol. We show up in black shoes, black pants & black shirts. The reason why, we try not to stick out in any of the pictures.

Most of your professional vendors: photographers, coordinators, video-graphers, DJs and AV crew should be in black in order to minimize their noticeable presence in any of your pictures.

Big thanks to Norman & Susana for having us provide lighting on their big date.....=)

Now to the actual wedding......hehehehe

We provided both dj & lighting on 8/16 at Pacific Palms' Colonial Room for Kelly's sister & brother in law, Amy & Glen. It was without a doubt, one of most eclectic events we ever encountered.....Yes, "Encountered". I guess the fact, most of the guests were in the fashion, music and makeup industry...You would expect an eclectic crowd....Seeing a female guest wearing a 5" stillito was an eye opener....heheh...Seeing some really funky hairstyles got me grooving to some B-52....

In terms of lighting, we pinlighted all the centerpieces, LED the Room and did a gobo name projection on the wall with couple of FX on the dancefloor.

The bride and groom exchanged their vows in front of their guests....followed by some live singing and piano performances....It was a fairly easy wedding for us, since they had their friends MC most of the night...

Vendors
  • Leon Wang for filming the wedding

A Colorful Night at Doubletree Hotel Anaheim

We finished the last weekend of July with 3 really diverse events. Give you an idea how diverse our events were, I djed a Vietnamese & Filipino event on Saturday night at Westminister, did an event lighting for a Sangeet/Mendhi at Irvine Hyatt's Pavilion on Thursday and finished the extremly hot humid weekend with a grand decor lighting event at the Double Tree Guest Suite in Anaheim....

For the Vietnamese & Filipino gig, I had my friend mc, Kim mc in English & Vietnamese and I djed...(That is Kim to my left).

I've worked at Double Tree Anaheim on a few occasions, but never on the scale of this particular event. It was a fairly large, colorful and festive ethnic event with great food, drinks and fabric....

Once again, my thanks to the ladies of Ethnic Essence for coordinating such a beautiful event. If you brides and grooms are ever looking for colorful fabric, flowers and cordination...check them out. Doubletree Monrovia Arcadia.
