Lighting & DJ guide to a medium size wedding

Brides & Grooms frequently ask how much lights do I need and how do you charge. Simple: The size of your wedding and how extravagant dictate how much we charge. In this tough economy, we do our best to balance a good blend of lighting and high end sound equipment without you breaking the bank. But on the same token, you get what you pay for... in any business....

In my professional & humble opinion, Jason & Anita's wedding at Renaissance Hotel at Long Beach (See Trailer) is a perfect example of a medium size wedding (22 - 40 table range) that we used a good volume of lighting & balance sound system. Please note, most hotels, The Hiltons, The Westins, The Sheratons, The Marriotts, The Renaissances, The Double Trees & Fairmonts all have similar ballrooms with its beige color walls and medium to high ceiling (13' - 17' ceiling). Some of these hotels use fluorescent light during vendor setup to keep cost down....avoid fluorescent light during the actual reception period.

For Lighting in their Square & Symmetric Ballroom:

* 36 Uplights (12 in the front & back, 6 on each side of the side walls)
* Color: Pale Amber Gold & Turquoise
* Gobo Name Projection
* 2 Follow Spot lights (You always need 2 or more for different angles)
* 2 LED DJ moving heads lights

For DJ Sound Setup

* 2 Speakers in the front
* 1 15" subwoofer (For weddings of 125 or more people, subwoofer/s are strongely recommended for the extra bass) It really gives the room a good bounce

Lighting Recommendation for future events

* Pinlighting for head floral pieces (We were not aware of the 2 big head pieces in the front)
* Pinlighting for the cake

Setup time: 2 hours by me & 3 of my guys.
28 Tables of 10s with a sweet heart table....guest count just under 300...
Thanks to Ryan of Best Wishes Video for the trailer
